Oftan Katakhrom (Oftan Catachrom)

Main physical and chemical characteristics: transparent, reddish solution;

Structure. 1 ml of drops includes C 0, 675 cytochrome of mg, adenosine of 2 mg, a nikotinamid of 20 mg;

other components: a benzageksoniya chloride, sorbite, sodium succinate six-water, sodium phosphate monosubstituted 2-water, sodium phosphate disubstituted 2-water, water for injections.

Form of release of medicine. Drops are eye.

Effect of the medicine. Pharmacodynamics. The mechanism of effect of drug Oftan Katakhrom is based first of all on antioxidant effect of the active components entering in its structure – cytochrome C, adenosine and a nikotinamid.

Cytochrome C plays an important role in biochemical oxidation-reduction processes practically in all aerobic organisms.

It is shown that in the kristallik affected with a cataract, concentration of cytochrome C is reduced therefore at treatment of such states it is desirable to resume cytochrome C level.

Cytochrome C cannot in sufficient of quantity get into a cornea in the form of the whole molecule that there are possible only after splitting peptide chains. Gemsoderzhashchy nonapeptide randomly gets into a cornea. The inhibition of oxide processes in all fabrics which are before kristalliky (a cornea and intraocular liquid) matters important for braking of development of a cataract as ultra-violet radiations causes in these fabrics chain reactions with education of radicals who, as shown, can lead to opacification of a kristallik. Gemsoderzhashchy cytochrome C which is a part of drug has ability to neutralization of oxygen radicals at certain oxidation-reduction states and, thus, can prevent developments of the cataract caused by radicals.

Adenosine which is a part of drug has multiple effects:

– it is nutrient and a basic element for DNA repair and a power metabolism;

– be kristallik and a cornea and promotes washing away of toxic products of decomposition, stimulating products and an exchange of intraocular liquid. It results owing to vasodilatation and increase in eye blood supply;

– reduces an inflammation in a conjunctiva, a cornea and other tissues of an eye, and also directly influences glutathione resuming as is a structural element of enzyme of a glutationreduktaza and renewed NADF (nikotinamid-adenine-dinukleotidfosfat), necessary for activation of the main protective mechanism braking of processes oxidation (namely glutathione resuming) in a kristallika.

Nikotinamid is a structural element of the vital coenzymes OVER (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADF (nikotinamid-adenindinukleotidfosfat). In an organism nikotinamid it is split by a nikotinamidaza with formation of the niacin (Niacinum) necessary for life of water-soluble vitamin.

Introduction of a nikotinamid in drug is caused by the fact that the cataract can be avoided if to renew ability to regeneration of endothelial cells of a kristallik. It can be reached, providing intake of metabolic nutrients for DNA repair and supporting glutationreduktaza enzyme level.

Pharmacokinetics. Intaktna a molecule of cytochrome C cannot get into a cornea, but it becomes possible after splitting peptide chains to gemsoderzhashchy nanopeptide. At topical administration (an instillation in eyes) cytochrome C is not soaked up in blood. Gem after penetration into a cornea extends in all fabrics.

Adenosine randomly passes in a cornea and extends after all fabrics. The adenosine elimination half-life makes less than one minute of plasma.

Adenosine is metabolized practically in all fabrics with formation of inosine, a ksatin and urate which is removed with urine. The ribose is metabolized with participation transketomanholes to glitseraldegid-3-phosphate, and then to pyruvate, and as a result burns down in a tricarbonic acid cycle.

Indications to use. Cataract.

Way of use and dose. On 1 - 2 drops to dig in 3 times a day in eyes. Duration of use is defined by the doctor.

Side effect.

Eyes. Occasionally short-term burning and tingling in eyes can be felt.

System effects. System side effects are observed extremely seldom. Use of drug only nausea, arterial hypotension, dizziness and an asthma as very short-term can be potential side effects at. Niacin has vasodilating action and can cause inflow, feeling of heat, a syncope and feeling of a beating in temples.

Contraindications. Allergic reactions to any of drug components.

Overdose. Active components of eye drops "Oftan Katakhrom" is endogenous substances which do not collect in an organism and which metabolism is well studied. Daily doses of three active components which were received by patients in the course of treatment, very small in comparison with their endogenous quantity. Thus, toxicity of drug minimum.

Thanks to insignificant absorption in blood and fast to destruction in blood, drops are considered completely safe for use in ophthalmology. No heavy or serious reactions are revealed that there could be doses connected with exceeding.

Therapy is symptomatic.

Features of use. Eye drops "Oftan Katakhrom" are not intended for treatment of glaucoma. Efficiency of drops for treatment of glaucoma is not proved by certain clinical tests.

Eye drops contain preservative a benzageksoniya chloride which can precipitate on soft contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed before an instillation and again to insert them in 15 minutes after an instillation.

This concerning use of drug for children it is not enough to draw any valid conclusions.

Pregnancy and lactation.

It is not enough clinical data concerning use of drug during the periods of pregnancy and a lactation.

Influence on ability to steer vehicles and mechanisms.

It is not studied.

Interaction with other medicines. Clinically significant interactions with other medicines are not revealed.

Conditions and periods of storage. To store in unavailable to children, the cool place at a temperature of +8-+15 °C.

To apply within 1 month after disclosure of a bottle.

Period of validity 3 years.
