Kefzolum — Kefsol Production of the USA. CEFAMEZINUM, CEFAZOLIN Structure. A semi-synthetic antibiotic from group of cephalosporins — [3 (5-methyl-1,3,5-tiadiazolil-2-thiomethyl)-7-(1-tetrazolilatsetamid) - 3-tsefem-4] - carboxylic acid. Effect of the medicine. Possesses bactericidal activity concerning gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including stafilokokk forming a penicillinase. At parenteral administration Kefzolum for 90% contacts blood proteins, its high concentration in blood are observed during 10 h. Kefzolum is allocated generally with kidneys (99%) in not changed look. Gets through a placental barrier and a synovial membrane into a joint cavity. Indications. Infections of uric, respiratory and bilious ways, septicaemia, bacterial endocarditis, infectious diseases of bone and connecting tissues (osteomyelitis, arthritis), infections of skin and soft tissues, infections of an urinogenital path. Use. Kefzolum is entered intramusculary or intravenously: the adult at moderately severe infectious diseases — on 1,5 — 2 g a day, at heavy disease — to 3 — 4 g, in that and other case the dose is divided into 2 — 3 identical parts. To children drug is appointed at the rate of 20 — 50 mg/kg of body weight a day. The general dose is also divided into 2 — 3 identical parts.
